New things in my life:

I have a job at Fotokem, a motion picture film printing and processing lab. I change positions every 2-3 weeks, yet, despite this, it is totally boring and redundant. And no, the building is not nearly as intimidating as this low-angle random google pic.

I will be attending Harvard University this fall. Tisch proved too pre-professional for me. I will be studying English Literature, possibly in Harvard's History and Literature department. Yet, despite this, I really miss New York, and I'm sure Boston won't compare.

I am totally in love with Jonathan Franzen's novel "The Corrections." Highly recommend it to (practically) anyone. (Exceptions: you know who you are).
Lately my friends and I have been going on adventures to waterfalls around the San Fernando Valley. Sometimes we get the CRAZY idea of jumping into said waterfalls. Madness-and jig arm-thrusts-usually ensue. This gem is from Mount Baldy:

Yes, I realize the picture is large and on its side. Turn your head to the left. Or, better yet, flip your computer monitor on its side.
Oh, and sometimes I light my cigarette with Madison's birthday cake last night. Yeaaah.

So...
My roommate and I like to light my peppermint candle and burn incense. BUT, we have a stupid smoke detector, which will go off when burning said peppermint candle and incense.
So I devised a clever contraption to prevent the smoke:

UM, IF BY CLEVER, I MEAN DANGEROUS/ILLEGAL/GHETTO, THEN IT IS CLEARLY CLEVER.

And thus my favorite season approaches.
After spending the weekend at Princeton, I feel 5-10 pounds heavier, happier, and satisfied with my friendships.
I was bored last night, so decked out my room with holiday decorations:

NOTE: the white lights, the spray-on snow for the windows, the hanging icicles from my windowsill, the fake snow on the windowsill, and my green tinsel tree and peppermint candle from urban.
and

Cashmere is my new best friend. Too bad my hair is too short for the weather.
It's getting cold; why don't I have someone to keep me warm?

This week has been fantastic.
I met my mother on Friday: we walked to Central Park, and had High Tea at the Plaza Hotel. The harpist literally played The Blue Danube, it was so refined.
Last week, I had a photoshoot with Troian, central park area:

( Twilight Geisha Shoot Samples )
How friggin' beautiful is she as a Euro-Japanese Geisha?
Yesterday, I went shopping with my mom on Broadway, told the police about a mugging I heard about on 8th street. He didn't say or do anything, and said that I personally had to file a complaint, to which I walked away muttering "Wow, protect and serve." Well, that really pissed him off, and if I wasn't with my mom, I'm sure the scary NYPD and their police state and violation of civil liberties would find a way to arrest me. Whatever.
Someday, I want to be able to afford Bergdorf Goodman. IT ISN'T FAIR!

APPLE HAS GIVEN ME A SECOND CHANCE.
My last iPod was scratched, broken, the touch pad wouldn't work, and I think someone threw up on it (I can't remember). Clearly, it had to go.
I went to the apple store, tears in my eyes, knowing that I might have to throw down more money, more of my starving-as-Pip-in-Great-Expectations money for an iPod. But after talking to an apple genius/GOD, they decided to give me a new one, and a second chance.
genius: "now, take care of this one, right?" me: "oh, Jesus, I will!"
Perhaps he did not realize my intention. You see, I was lazarus, and he was Jesus, and the Apple Store SoHo Genius Bar was the cave, and the iPod was the bandages, and....clearly this metaphor is going nowhere.
I bought gPod a pretty blue leather case, with brown stitching.
Then I threw an iPod party party! inductee song? oh you guessed it, her fifth symphony:

Then my roommates glared at me, and berated my dancing/photography.
They're just jealous of my pretty blue leather case, with brown stitching.

So,
babushkas are russian grandmothers:

Clearly, a woman that understands PAIN. I like to imagine that she'd be really aggressive in bed. That's not weird, shut up.
I've been really sick for the past few weeks. I went to the fucking EMERGENCY ROOM for strep throat:
Nurse: "honey I'm going to take your blood" .... .... Me: "um....why is there an iv hanging out of my arm" Nurse: "oh, I didn't tell you, surprise!"
PLEASANT!
Jesus, and now sarah's sick, too. seriously she needs to get over it. It still hurts to eat, though. whatever, ew, gross, who eats. I only drink Cranberry juice cocktail.
Oh, and in my writing class, my peers don't understand what I mean when I say mundane, and my teacher uses vague greek terms and expects us to know them, yet calls my writing pretentious when I describe a boy's tears as "embittered." He's the type of professor that writes in exclamations when he reviews work.
Good afternoon (morning if you're in los angeles) Garrett

Oh man, Bright Eyes at North Six tonight: amazing. That glowing red light just hit him as he sung exactly how I felt, and those goddamn embittered emo tears began to well up, just a little, and I thought "shit, this is fucking perfect."
Conor Oberst: you are a drunken louse...but I think I love you for it.
You don't get a better live band.
And everyone check out Kevin Devine, holy shit.
That is all.

For my All About Me collage, I did the theater tragic mask, because I view life as comically tragic. It's covered in scenes from French New Wave, as well as Japanese Processed Food, the two things that make me happiest.
yeah, it's pretty much the greatest collage in the history of the world.

Addendum: Dear NYU Film, please stop assigning Fourth Grade art projects, I want to learn how to make film. You don't see Quentin Tarantino making any collages, unless he's REALLY high on cocaine... "aright? aright? aright?"
And another thing: so I was thinking about how the U.S. is outsourcing jobs for computer technicians to Asia. I really hate that computer technicians on the phone are from the third world. I mean, it's not like I can complain about my computer problems to a man that doesn't know if his family will live through the night.
Here's how a conversation with an over-the-phone computer guy would go:
"Hi, ummm, my start button is working..." "are your children covered in maggots?" "uhh, no..." "then your life is jolly!"

New York is pretty much amazing.
I went to the World Trade Center on September 11 for my photoshoot. People were crying, there were multiple minutes of silence, it was pretty much devastating, but worthwhile.
Sunday: Guggenheim, studied Picasso's Blue Period "Woman Ironing" piece. Matt Petersen came into town: really nice sushi at great place in the village, with Ashley (love that girl).
Today: Blech courses. honestly, writing the essay with a bunch of tisch people is a fucking joke. Note to self: do NOT take academic courses with drama/dance/film majors.
Overall: great classes, great professors, great city, students are pretentious FUCKS. And no, this is NOT the pot calling the kettle black.
I sent a really important e-mail that might change a great deal of my life...but no response. I hope, if you read this, that you take it as heartfelt and sincere as my intentions were in writing it.

Free NYU Shins concert last night (no ticket, guard let me in anyway): pretty good, if a bit long.
Oh man, I am in LOVE with one of my professors...she's working for her PhD in cinema studies Ugh, she did her dissertation on Godard, and she's beautiful, and she's from canada so she doesn't understand who Tina Fey is, or why that's a compliment.
40 ounces of Malt Liquor provides the perfect amount of drunkenness.

Oh, and I love sarah.

Comedy cellar: saw dave attell describe veiny vietnamese penises last night...perhaps my greatest laugh in weeks.
Oh, Japan, I love your Giant Pocky dearly.

Unfortunately, every japanese market I go to does not serve yan-yan...I'm beginning to think the cookie dipping deliciousness has only appeared in my dreams.
At one japanese market, I thanked the cashier with aragato, and she started laughing and pointing at me, speaking to her friend in japanese. I had to wait for the elevator, and she kept leaning over the counter and pointing at laughing at me.
NEXT TIME I WILL NOT ACCOMODATE YOU WITH YOUR LANGUAGE, JAPAN! be warned.
p.s. I need a digital camera so i don't keep relying on weird google pics.

So, NYU is basically incredible.
Tisch people are really intense, especially the actors/dancers.
I love SHAMOOING
I really did not like the Brown Bunny, I think that it had some redeeming qualities, but it was ridiculously pretentious.
Oh, and stay out of Fez, the bar inside Time Restaurant, it's totally persian/creepy.
Lates, kids.
p.s. Jim does not deserve a Canon XL1s that he will let me borrow under "highly supervised conditions." Bitch please, I got Panavision.
